SALT LAKE CITY — The Olympus offense awoke Friday night as the Titans took down East 52-0 in a lopsided affair. This comes a week after a 14-7 win over Cedar Valley.

"We executed well. I thought we made plays when we had to," Olympus head coach Brandon Burt said. "We blocked on our short passing game really well. We were able to run the ball very well. A lot better than last week on execution."

The Titans deployed a dual QB threat with Luke Espersen and Preston Ferran leading the way, and both QB's had two touchdown passes each, with Ferran adding two rushing touchdowns, as well.

"We have two really good kids with Esperson, who is a senior, and Ferran, who is a really talented junior," Burt said. "Luke has the big arm and Preston is more of a runner, so it's a nice problem to have."

The Olympus offense scored halfway through the first quarter on a run pass option play to Hugh Matsumori for 15 yards from Esperson to lead 7-0. The Titans scored early and often to lead 31-0 at halftime with a steady mix of substitutions, run plays, and well executed blocking schemes.

Early in the third quarter, Will Farnsworth took an Espersen pass 40 yards for the touchdown to put the exclamation point on the game.

"Will is a lights out punt returner and a great slot receiver for us," Burt said. "I thought he had a great game for us, and we will definitely need him next week."

The Titans put up just 14 points in a win against Cedar Valley, but players like Farnsworth said they were happy to see the progress being made from the first game of the season.

"It feels really good right now, especially since we only scored 14 last week," Farnsworth said. "It feels really good to put up 52 on the scoreboard just in time for Skyline."

The road trip will continue next week as Olympus takes on Skyline to continue its storied rivalry. In years past, the Titans have defeated Skyline handily, including a 47-6 victory in 2024.

"Skyline's got a good spread attack with a new quarterback and a very good running back — coach Mailei's son," Burt said. "It's always a good neighborhood rivalry with him, with the rock."

Everyone is ready for the next chapter in this rivalry, including Farnsworth, who knows everyone will be ready when it's game time.

"It's a classic rivalry," Farnsworth said. "They'll be ready, we're ready, and it's always fun to play at Skyline"
