ST. GEORGE — A former assistant coach at Water Canyon High School in Hildale, Washington County, was ordered to serve probation after pleading no contest to charges accusing him of making out with a student.
Aaron Peter Lacorti, 37, was sentenced to one year in jail for unlawful kissing of a minor, a class A misdemeanor, but that sentence was suspended along with all but $53 of a $4,803 fine. He was instead ordered to spend 24 months on probation, complete a psychosexual evaluation and any treatment it recommends.
He was charged on March 19 and entered his no-contest plea on July 10 at the same hearing where he was sentenced.
A tip from an anonymous caller initiated the investigation into Lacorti.
Initially, the 16-year-old girl denied anything had happened, but later she admitted to a romantic relationship with Lacorti, and described "making out" with him, according to a police booking affidavit. It said Lacorti's access to the school was revoked due to the investigation.
As part of his probation, Lacorti was ordered not to have any contact with the girl until she is 18, and to write an apology letter to her.
Prosecutors also agreed that if all of the terms of probation are completed, his probation could end early.
