TOOELE — Two men have been charged with kidnapping a third man and interrogating him for allegedly "snitching" to police about drug deals in the city.

Peter Mark Brandt, 41, and Alex Thomas Bodin, 36, of Tooele, were each charged Monday in Tooele County's 3rd District Court with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery, first-degree felonies. Brandt received additional charges of being a restricted person in possession of a weapon, a third-degree felony; drug possession, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

The men are accused of tying the hands of another man behind his back with a phone cord while he sat in a chair in the kitchen shortly after arriving at a Tooele residence in January.

"(He) was interrogated for a substantial period regarding him telling the police about cocaine drug deals in the city of Tooele and was not allowed to leave. Peter at one point placed a black handgun, possibly a Beretta, in (the victim's) mouth and pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire. Various people were present in the home and witnessed the interrogation. Some participated, specifically Alex Bodin," according to a police booking affidavit.

A fourth man who initially convinced the victim to go to the residence was later recorded making statements such as, "I genuinely did not think that was going to happen" and "I thought people just wanted to talk to you, to figure it out, and ask questions of why you did it. I knew they were going to try to scare you," the affidavit states.

Detectives were also able to confirm that the names of people provided by the victim who were present for the interrogation "were at the house and that they had plans to confront him about 'snitching' about their drug sales," police said.

On July 10, officers served search warrants on Brandt's and Bodin's homes and recovered drugs and a gun, the affidavit states. Both men were then taken into custody.
