ROY — One person was hospitalized after being shot in the head in Roy on Sunday evening, according to police.

The shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. near 5500 South and 4300 West, according to Roy Police Sgt. Josh Taylor.

Officers arrived to find a 45-year-old person with a gunshot wound to the head. The person was taken to a local hospital and their condition is unknown, Taylor said.

A suspect was taken into custody at the scene, he added. More information about the incident was not immediately available, and the victim has not been identified.
