BLUFFDALE — An intoxicated man who police say was leaving a Bluffdale apartment after fighting with his girlfriend has been arrested after police say he shot an unsuspecting bystander in the foot.
Louxious Leo Anderson, 24, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, shooting a gun and causing injury and public intoxication.
About 10:35 p.m. Sunday, Anderson was at the Rockpoint Apartments, 15300 S. Porter Rockwell Blvd., when he got into an argument with his girlfriend. As Anderson was leaving the fourth-floor apartment, "a shot rang out," according to a police booking affidavit.
"The shot fired struck an unsuspecting bystander in the parking lot," the affidavit states.
A 27-year-old man reported being "struck in the foot/leg by a stray projectile," according to police. A shell casing was found on the stairway landing of the apartment building.
"As Bluffdale Police Department's investigation unfolded, the suspect who fired the aforementioned shot at the victim was positively identified as 24-year-old Louxious Anderson," the affidavit says.
Detectives were able to locate Anderson.
"Mr. Anderson was taken into police custody without incident and in a highly intoxicated state," the arrest report said.
