SPANISH FORK — A 62-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Spanish Fork Thursday morning.

At about 7:45 a.m., a woman was crossing the road at the intersection of Spanish Fork Parkway and state Route 51 when she was hit by a vehicle turning left, according to Spanish Fork police.

The woman was taken to a local hospital. Police reported about 9 a.m. that she had died.

"The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. The Utah County Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation," police said.

The woman's name has not yet been released.

"This is a heartbreaking outcome, and our hearts are with the woman's family during this incredibly difficult time," Spanish Fork Police Chief Matt Johnson said.
