MAGNA — Two people were killed late Saturday when they were T-boned by another vehicle that ran a red light, troopers said.

The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. when a white BMW traveling east on state Route 201 struck a red Ford Mustang that was heading north on 7200 West and turning west onto S.R. 201. The Mustang had a green light when it entered the intersection and was T-boned by the BMW, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Davies Sanchez said.

Paramedics pronounced both occupants of the Mustang dead at the scene. The BMW's driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Troopers shut down the intersection overnight to investigate and collect evidence. It reopened at 4 a.m. Sunday.

The crash remains under investigation. The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
