TAYLORSVILLE — A woman died after fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle and crashing Thursday night, police said.

Taylorsville police officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Layton about 9:30 p.m. Thursday and attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver fled, according to a news release from the city's police department.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle, police said, but a helicopter from the Utah Department of Public Safety maintained sight of it. Police tried to deflate the vehicle's tires along 500 West, but the driver "continued to flee north," the release said.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Caysee Rebolloso, of Salt Lake City, eventually collided with two other vehicles after passing the intersection at 4800 South and 500 West in Murray. Rebolloso was taken to the hospital, where she later died, according to police.

A passenger in the second vehicle was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening and the driver of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries.
