SALT LAKE CITY — A 46-year-old man was hit by an SUV and killed late Thursday in Salt Lake City.

The man was crossing State Street near 500 South about 11:45 p.m. when he was hit by a northbound SUV. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was north of the intersection and not in a crosswalk, according to police.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, the SUV had a green light to travel through the intersection," police said.
