MURRAY — Police are asking the public for help in identifying a driver who hit a man on an electric scooter in Murray and then fled the scene.

Just before 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Murray police say a man was riding an electric scooter north on State Street when a white SUV turned east at 4500 South and hit the man. The SUV then fled eastbound, police said in a statement on social media.

When emergency responders arrived, the man who was riding the scooter was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Police said he remained in critical condition as of 4 p.m.

The SUV involved in the collision is described by police as a smaller vehicle that would have damage to the front driver's side. A photo of the vehicle was captured by a nearby business and distributed by police.

Anyone with information about the SUV or its driver is encouraged to call Murray police at 801-840-4000.
