LAYTON — A victim of road rage is sharing his story about the moments when a driver started firing shots at him on the freeway last week.
"At that moment, all I was hearing were gunshots," said Jerriad Wallace.
On March 16 about 9:30 p.m., Wallace said he was driving his Jeep Cherokee south on I-15 in Davis County when the unexpected happened.
"Just a bunch of fragments kind of peppered my face," he said.
Wallace said four bullets were unloaded into his car, breaking his window, damaging his passenger-side doors, and flattening two of his tires.
"To be honest, I don't know if I cut somebody off or anything like that," Wallace said.
While he wasn't physically injured, Wallace was left with a massive bill with a car that he couldn't drive.
However, when Wallace reached out to Kevin Wade of Fat Bob's Garage to see if he could help with the fixes, Wade happily helped the road rage victim out.
"We got together in the shop and said, 'Yeah, we can make this happen,'" Wade said.
Wade saw Wallace's story on the news, and it resonated with him. In his shop of 30 people, he said any one of them could become a victim.

"It's a route that I take every day," Wade said. "There's too much hate in this world."
For him, Jeep owners like Wallace are like family.
"He's part of our community, and he's in the jeeping life," Wade said. "He's a neighbor and then the situation was terrible."
The two men hope that the shooter will be caught so nobody else gets hurt in road rage incidents.

"We know that there's a guy out there that is willing to shoot at people. And he thinks he's gotten away with it. It makes me really nervous that he's out there," Wade said.
But for now, they are happy that Wallace is okay and is back on the road with a fresh set of tires.
The Utah Highway Patrol said it's still searching for the person responsible for shooting at Wallace. Investigators believe the suspect's vehicle is a red Ford Fusion.
