WEST VALLEY CITY — Two people were seriously injured in a shooting at a party in West Valley City early Sunday, police said.

A fight broke out and was reported by several neighbors in the area of 3100 Timeron Dr. about 1:25 a.m., said West Valley City Police Lt. M.T. Johnson.

While officers were en route, they received a report of shots fired in the area. Officers found two people who had been shot and began rendering aid to them. They were taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Johnson said one of the people who was shot suffered a life-threatening injury, and the other had been stabilized in the hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.

Officers tried to interview people at the house party, but they were "uncooperative," Johnson said. Detectives found evidence at the scene and "believed they had located the person who was responsible for the shooting." That person, described only as male, was interviewed and booked into jail, according to Johnson.

Additional information was not immediately available.
