PARK CITY — A 55-year-old man visiting from out of state died Wednesday after being buried in the snow in the Canyons Village side of the Park City resort.

First responders were notified of an injured snowboarder about 11 a.m. near a blue run called "Alley" which lies in a valley just to the west of the Super Condor Express lift, Summit County Sheriff's Sgt. Skyler Talbot said.

"A family member assisted in locating and digging," before the man was transported to an on-site medical facility and later died, Talbot said.

"There are no indications that the incident was avalanche related," but the "exact circumstances" are unclear, Talbot said. The investigation is still active as the cause of the man's death is determined. The identity of the snowboarder has not yet been released.
