SALT LAKE CITY — A suspected drug dealer with outstanding warrants was arrested over the weekend after trying to run from Salt Lake City police.
Anthony Caleb Brickhouse, 39, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute, failing to stop for police, two counts of giving police false information, interfering with an arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, police spotted an SUV at a 7-Eleven, 490 N. Redwood Road, that had previously fled from officers. Officers blocked the SUV to prevent it from driving off, then approached Brickhouse who was still in the driver's seat.
In body-camera video released by police, an officer is heard telling Brickhouse to show his hands and slowly open the door. But as soon as he steps out of the vehicle, Brickhouse runs.
He doesn't make it very far, however, before slipping and falling. Two police officers then get on top of him and force his hands out from underneath his body.
Brickhouse gives the officers false information about his identity and claims he swallowed 25 fentanyl pills, according to a police booking affidavit. But after watching him at a local hospital for three hours and showing no signs of overdosing, he was taken to jail.
Investigators searching Brickhouse's SUV found 30 fentanyl pills on the floorboard and drug paraphernalia, the affidavit states.
Brickhouse also faces charges of burglary and theft in two separate cases and has warrants out for his arrest in each case for failing to show up for court appearances, according to court records.
