TAYLORSVILLE — Police said Friday they were still looking for a person who they say reportedly "slashed" two men with a knife after being "upset" about the amount of money they gave him Thursday night.

At about 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of an aggravated robbery near 4200 South and 2600 West. They arrived to find two men with "deep slash wounds," according to Taylorsville Police Lt. Aaron Cheshire.

The men told police they had been driving along 2700 West when they pulled over because of a mechanical issue. They said they were standing outside of the vehicle when a tall, skinny, white man wearing a hoodie approached them and asked for money, Cheshire said.

"They told the male, 'No.' At that time, the male produced a knife and demanded money from them," he said. "They provided the male, according to their statements, with a small amount of cash that they had on them, which didn't appear to be a whole lot. The male became upset and started slashing at them with a knife."

Cheshire said both men suffered "pretty deep wounds" with the knife. Both men were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated and released.

Police temporarily locked down a perimeter around the area of the reported incident Thursday night and Friday morning as they searched for the man.

A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter and K-9 units from multiple agencies assisted in those efforts, Cheshire said. However, he said were unable to find anyone matching the description provided to them. He added he was unaware of previous incidents like this in the area and that police had "very little information" to work with outside of the description given to them.
