SALT LAKE CITY — Chad Graham says the dashcam video from his daughter's car shows exactly what happened in American Fork Canyon on Dec. 13, 2024, but the other driver sped off.
He's thankful she's still alive after another car veered into her lane, forcing her car off the canyon road. Graham said his daughter's boyfriend was driving and made a split-second decision that may have saved both of their lives.
"I gave my daughter's boyfriend a hug and said, 'You saved my daughter's life," Graham said.
While he's thankful, Graham said the other driver needs to turn themself in.
When his 21-year-old daughter, Lorelei Graham, called him, sobbing, he knew something was seriously wrong he said.
After a frightful situation that could have cost her and her boyfriend their lives, Lorelei Graham wants the other driver to take accountability and, at the very least, pay for the damage to her car which is now totaled.
The Grahams said the driver hit the mirror of their car, and they believe that driver knows they caused a crash.
The Utah Highway Patrol said the case is still under investigation.
