OGDEN — Police say a man left the destruction and chaos while fleeing police drunk, seriously injuring multiple people and killing a 64-year-old pedestrian in Ogden on Friday.

About 5 p.m., Ogden police got a call from Ogden Regional Medical Center saying "a male had come to the hospital intoxicated but was since refusing detox treatment and fled getting into a ... silver Dodge Ram truck," the police booking affidavit says.

Police identified that man was identified as 26-year-old Tyson Bryce Treasure.

Treasure "fled in the truck driving through the parking lot and striking at least one other vehicle," according to the affidavit, before making his way north on U.S. 89.

Police say there "was a crash" at 40th Street and Washington Boulevard, though no details were given.

Police say they received numerous calls about a reckless driver before a Utah Highway Patrol trooper attempted a stop near 40th Street and Adams Avenue. The pickup did not stop, instead fleeing east on 36th Street where the trooper abandoned the pursuit.

Treasure continued driving to 4200 South and Harrison Boulevard, near the McKay-Dee Hospital, police said. At the intersection, Treasure rammed into the back of a Ford that was stopped in a left-turn lane, pushing it into the back of a Kia while trying to drive through the intersection "against the red light," the affidavit states.

When that failed, he allegedly "made an illegal U-turn and fled west on 42nd," the arrest report says, striking the back of a Tesla and a Honda which were stopped at a red light at the intersection of 20th and Harrison, just south of the Big-Dee Sports Park.

"The Honda was pushed into the intersection and through the crosswalk where a pedestrian was crossing," the affidavit says, running over and killing him.

The driver of the Honda "suffered severe injuries to the face," according to the affidavit, but Treasure "reversed into the roadway and then fled north on Harrison."

When Treasure reached Canyon Road and Harrison, he is accused of speeding through a red light, T-boning another car in the intersection and pinning the driver in her car, where she "suffered major injuries to her pelvis and lower extremities," the affidavit says. That was the "final crash," and Treasure ultimately stopped when the truck was "disabled enough that it could no longer drive."

Officers on the scene say they "observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" coming from Treasure, and he was arrested, the affidavit says.

During an interview at the Ogden police station, Treasure "was having trouble staying awake," and "showed erratic behavior by quickly going back and forth from calm to irritated," according to the affidavit.

Police said Treasure admitted to "driving the vehicle and being involved in the accidents," and drinking earlier in the day.

The man was booking into the Weber County Jail Saturday for investigation of driving under the influence, failing to remain at an accident involving death and serious injury, reckless driving, failing to comply with duties at a vehicle accident, failing to stop for police and automobile homicide.

The Ogden Police Department declined to confirm the identity of the man killed.

Correction: Police initially reported the pedestrian who was killed was approximately 50 years old. Since then, it has been learned the man was 64-year-old James Wood.
