It's a familiar Christmas tradition for parents to set out noisemakers so children can't get to gifts early.
My grandma would wrap our stairs up with wrapping paper and sleep with one eye open, between us and the stairs, ensuring we wouldn't dare try to reach our gifts before our parents were awake.
This Utah father, however, takes the tradition to a whole new level — creating an escape room full of noisemakers throughout the home. I assume the children look forward to this yearly tradition, which started in 2013, as much as they look forward to the presents at the other end.
Brandon Comstock writes at the end of the video that his children have yet to get through the challenge, which they call "Christmas traps," without waking up their parents.
The challenges start with opening a door that sends a firetruck toy into a bell; then the children have to tightrope across bubble wrap through falling boxing arms, shoot a blowgun at a small target surrounded by balloons, and pass through a firing Nerf gun, cup towers, falling ping pong balls, bells and, finally, wrapping paper.
Although the children are solving challenges primarily in the dark, the footage from the cameras gives a great view of the upcoming traps and how carefully the children try to avoid them.
This year's video hasn't been posted yet, but I'm hoping the kids made it.
