WASHINGTON — Former KSL NewsRadio host Boyd Matheson will serve as strategic adviser to Sen.-elect John Curtis, Curtis' chief of staff announced Tuesday.

Matheson — who has hosted the afternoon talk show "Inside Sources" since 2020 — announced his departure from KSL NewsRadio last month. His last day on the air was Friday. Corey Norman, Curtis' chief of staff, announced the hire in a news release Tuesday, saying Matheson's "leadership will play a key role in ensuring our office is proactive, solutions-driven and responsive to the needs of the people of Utah."

Curtis was recently elected to replace Sen. Mitt Romney in the U.S. Senate after representing Utah's 3rd Congressional District since 2017.

"Boyd is principled and policy-focused," the incoming senator said. "His deep understanding of the United States Senate, his strategic communication abilities, and his experience in building high-performance organizations will complement every member of our talented team. This addition will help us accelerate our effective representation of Utah in Washington, ensuring that the values of Utahns are heard loud and clear in our nation's capital. We are thrilled to welcome him on board."

Matheson is no stranger to Washington, D.C., and served as chief of staff to Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, from 2012 to 2016. He is the former president of the Utah-based Sutherland Institute and also worked as the opinion editor for Deseret News.

"Sen.-elect Curtis has a track record as a strategic statesman with great talent, temperament and tenacity," Matheson said. "His unique gift for bringing people together through the integrity of compromise positions him well to be a driving force in restoring the U.S. Senate as the world's greatest deliberative body. Utah and the nation need just such a senator, and I am honored to be included on this team."

Curtis is expected to be sworn in on Jan. 3, 2025.

KSL NewsRadio on Monday announced that Matheson's role on "Inside Sources" will be filled by six co-hosts: Leah Murray, Greg Skordas, Taylor Morgan, Maura Carabello, Rusty Cannon and Adam Gardiner. The six hosts will share duties hosting the daily show from 1-3 p.m.
