LAUSANNE, Switzerland — The most successful boxing nation at the Paris Olympics has joined the new governing body that aims to keep the sport in the 2028 Los Angeles Games after years of turmoil outside the ring. Uzbekistan won five of the 13 boxing gold medals in Paris this year. Its boxing federation is among four new members of World Boxing. The Switzerland-based body now has 55 members aiming to win formal recognition from the International Olympic Committee. The IOC banished the Russian-led International Boxing Association last year after longstanding financial and integrity concerns. The IOC wants to work with a new boxing body by early 2025.
