ST. GEORGE — An accused serial fraudster now faces additional charges after a horse sale went south. This is one of many recent cases filed against the man currently incarcerated on a no-bail hold in Washington County.

The defendant, 43-year-old Shandon Gale Young of Hurricane, is scheduled to appear before District Judge Jay Winward for a bail reduction hearing this week on two cases filed since the end of September. The cases involve multiple felony charges, including second-degree felony theft by deception and pattern of unlawful activity, along with two third-degree felony charges of issuing a bad check and theft by deception.

Young has been in jail in Washington County since his arrest on Sept. 30. He is also being held on an Iron County case filed on Sept. 25 involving a third-degree felony count of issuing a bad check. Young will make an initial appearance in Cedar City's court via Webex teleconference following his appearance in St. George. A full summary of the prior cases was included in a previous report by St. George News.

A fourth case was filed in Washington County last Tuesday for an unrelated incident. The Hurricane City Police Department opened the investigation on Sept. 24 following a report of possible fraud related to the sale of a horse.
