SALT LAKE CITY— An 81-year-old man drowned while duck hunting on the Great Salt Lake on Tuesday evening.

Two men were duck hunting near the Ambassador Duck Club, northwest of the Salt Lake City International Airport, when one of them fell into the water and didn't resurface, Salt Lake County sheriff's spokesman Chris Bronson said.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the lake about 7:40 p.m.

"The deceased body was later recovered. A dog and boat belonging to the deceased was turned over to family. The investigation is ongoing but alcohol appears to be a contributing factor," the sheriff's office stated.

The name of the 81-year-old man was not immediately released. The other man was flown to dry land and evaluated by emergency crews, the Salt Lake City Fire Department said.

Additional information was not immediately available.
