SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police are investigating a stabbing early Friday morning that left a 55-year-old man with serious injuries.

The investigation started at 1:42 a.m. when officers with the department's airport patrol division received information about a person with a weapon near 200 N. 2200 West.

As officers responded, they got additional information that a fight had turned physical and resulted in a stabbing.

Arriving on the scene, officers performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, where the man was taken to a hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

Police believe this is an isolated incident, as both men involved knew each other and had an "ongoing conflict prior to the stabbing," said a release from the department.

Additionally, the suspect in the stabbing is known to police, and officers and detectives are currently investigating.
