COVE FORT, Millard County — A woman from North Miami, Florida, was killed along with a 10-year-old boy in a wrong-way crash Thursday on I-15 near the I-70 interchange in Millard County, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
Police identified the woman as Melissa MacDonald, 55, but did not release any information about the boy.
A preliminary investigation shows a Toyota Corolla was traveling south in the northbound lanes about 5:15 a.m. and a Dodge pickup was northbound in the left lane, according to UHP. The vehicles collided head-on.
MacDonald was driving the Corolla at the time of the crash, UHP said, and the boy who died was a passenger in the truck. The driver and two other juvenile passengers in the pickup were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
It appears everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, investigators said.
The crash temporarily closed all northbound lanes on I-15 near the interchange, according to the Utah Department of Transportation, before opening shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.
