OREM — Spanish Fork running back Kaden Vest has accomplished a lot in his high school career, but the senior reached another milestone in his final regular season game as a Don.

Vest topped his four touchdowns last week against Payson with a career-high five rushing scores at Timpanogos on Wednesday, including three in an explosive 34-point second quarter for Spanish Fork.

The 8-2 Dons added two more scores in the second half for a season-high 63 points and held the Timberwolves to 21 — just the second time Timpanogos has failed to reach 30 points this season.

"I run as hard as I can," Vest said of his game. "I feel like what I take pride in is I'm not gonna get tackled by one person, it's got to be multiple people to take me down."

Vest added that he had a goal to reach 2,000 rushing yards this season, but finished closer to 1,900; it's still a big jump from his 1,334 yards last season. He carries plenty of momentum into the postseason with 18 touchdowns over his last five games.

"The kid just outworks everybody," Spanish Fork head coach Dustin Smith said of Vest. "It's a very mature group, a senior-heavy group, and we knew we would have a chance to be good if they would work hard over the summer, and they did. I think it's just the fruits of a lot of hard work all summer."

Spanish Fork fell short of a Region 8 title with a lone loss to region champ Provo, but finished as one of just four teams in Utah 4A football to reach eight wins on the season.

Timpanogos dropped to 6-4 with back-to-back losses to end the season but will look to turn things around in the first round of the playoffs starting Oct. 25.
