SPRINGVILLE — Police continued Monday to search for a gunman who shot a man three times in Springville on Sunday.

Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, a 35-year-old man was shot at 1327 W. 50 North. The man was treated at the scene before he was taken to Utah Valley Hospital. He underwent surgery and is expected to recover, police said.

Officers from Springville, Mapleton and Provo as well as Utah County sheriff's deputies started searching the area for the gunman who ran north from the scene, got on a motorcycle and sped out of the area. He was described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing dark blue jeans, a black hoodie, a black beanie and red high-top tennis shoes.

"The suspect is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous," Springville police later said in a statement.

Investigators said it was unclear whether it was a targeted incident or a random act of violence.

On Sunday night, officers from Springville and Spanish Fork received reports of more gunshots in the area of 1750 W. 1600 South.

"Multiple agencies responded to this area as well. No bullet casings, injured persons, or damage was found in the area at that time," Springville police said Monday.

Officers were investigating Monday whether the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Springville police at 801-489-9421.
