SALT LAKE CITY — A 35-year-old man was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on 400 S. State on Friday evening.
About 11:44 p.m. that night, police responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of 400 S. State. When police arrived they found two heavily damaged vehicles blocking the road.
Inside one of the vehicles, police located a critically injured man who they believe was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police. Paramedics transported the man to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Detectives stated that they believed based on the preliminary investigation that the 35-year-old man ran a red light while traveling east on 400 South and collided with a car traveling north on State Street. The investigation is ongoing with police working to determine whether speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
The crash prompted the closure of the intersection for several hours as well as delays for TRAX.
