LEHI — A man from Illinois died in a paragliding accident Sunday, officials say.

About 10:20 a.m., a man crashed while paragliding from the Flight Park State Recreation Area on the south side of the Point of the Mountain, the Utah County Sheriff's Office said. Authorities did not say what caused the man to crash.

The man was identified as David Gest, 56, of New Lenox, Illinois. He was transported by medical helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center, but he died from his injuries.
