MOSCOW, Idaho — I live on a hillside that overlooks Utah Valley. One of my favorite things about this spot is that I can see big storms as they move north over the lake. It's fascinating to see how differently these storms appear from a distance and then how they look once they arrive in my neighborhood.
The monsoon season is my favorite, with heavy rainfall that looks like dark-colored curtains from afar.
We have a lot of wind around here, so dust storms kick up now and again. But I've never seen anything like the storm in this video.
Can you imagine how intimidating that wall of dust would be as it bore down on your home? Yikes!
I assume the café worker was able to pick up her kids and get home safely. And if they were driving in an old car that needed restoration, at least the storm's sandblasting came in handy.
