MAGNA — A Sandy woman was charged Friday with exposing a 2-year-old child to fentanyl.

Amanda Longmore, 37, is charged in 3rd District Court with endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult, a third-degree felony.

On June 10, Longmore's mother was babysitting a 2-year-old granddaughter, but had to leave for an appointment so she left the child in the care of Longmore for a few hours, according to charging documents.

When the grandmother returned home, she noticed the 2-year-old "was playing on the floor when she stopped moving," the charges state, adding that the grandmother believed the child was "play sleeping."

When the child's mother came to pick up the child, she noticed the child was limp, was not focusing and her eyes were not dilating normally. The 2-year-old then began vomiting and was taken to Primary Children's Hospital, where the child was found to have fentanyl in her system, according to the charges.

"(The grandmother) reported that Longmore had been sleeping on the couch near where (the child) was playing and had a history of drug use," the charges allege.

Longmore told police she was babysitting the child that day and took her to the park. She "admitted she had a history of drug use" while her mother, the baby's mother and her brother don't have any drug use history, according to the charging documents.

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly said an arrest warrant was issued for Longmore. A proposed summons for her to appear in court was filed in 3rd District Court with the charges.
