OREM — Utah Valley women's soccer had played three previous in-state teams this season, going 2-1 in that stretch with a win over No. 3 BYU in an exhibition game, a win over Utah in Salt Lake 2-0, and a loss to No. 7 Utah State.

The Wolverines, who have had a roller coaster season so far, welcomed in their fourth in-state opponent this week in Weber State.

Thanks to a three goal first half by Utah Valley, the Wolverines cruised to a 5-0 win, improving to 5-4-1 on the year.

The highlight of the night was sophomore striker Nixan Jackson, who recorded a brace in just 18 minutes. Though its leading goal scorer Faith Webber didn't score, she attempted four shots on target and an assist in just 52 minutes of play.

The Wolverines dominated the stat box by putting up 19 shots to Weber State's six and controlled the ball for a large majority of the game, asserting dominance over the Wildcats.

Utah Valley started off quick, scoring in the 15th minute when Jackson rebounded a deflected ball from the keeper and gave the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, Webber found a crossing Jackson and the well-placed ball was enough for Jackson to secure a brace three minutes after her first score.

In the 37th minute, Quincy Bonds received a stellar left-footed pass from Sadie Beardall who sent the ball from the left side of the box all the way through the defense to the right post, putting Utah Valley up 3-0 in the first-half.

Utah Valley nearly scored 20 seconds into the half when Jackson passed to an open Webber, who shockingly sailed the ball over the goal.

Head coach Chris Lemay made the decision to swap his keepers in the 55th minute, giving backup goalie Leah Wolf reps in a 3-0 game.

Utah Valley opened up the scoring in the second half when Mia Owens received a cross from Greta Davis and elevated the Wolverines to a 4-0 lead over the Wildcats.

In the 70th minute, Weber State had just four total shots to Utah Valleys 18 with 11 of them on target, emphasizing the dominance by the Wolverines in the game.

Four minutes after the previous goal, Utah Valley converted again on a goal on another cross that went just under the keeper and was received by Ashley Garcia, who finished it off.

The fifth goal tied the highest amount of goals scored this season for Utah Valley, who scored five versus Detroit Mercy earlier in the year, enforcing a positive habit before conference play starts in a week.

"I'm happy that we have stacked two wins on top of each other and two shutouts on top of each other," Lemay said. "We found a lot of different goal scorers and it is good that a lot of other people stepped up."

Weber State, who falls to 1-7-3 on the year, will take on Wyoming on Sunday in Ogden.

Utah Valley will head to San Diego to take on the Aztecs on Sunday before starting conference play next Saturday at Tarleton State. The Wolverines will not have another home game for nearly a month until they play Abilene Christian on Oct. 12 at Clyde Field.
