SALT LAKE CITY — There is a right and a wrong way to cut down a tree. Scissors, for example, are a cutting tool insufficient for a large maple tree.
When it comes to fires, there are also right and wrong ways. Don't use water to put out a grease fire. Covering a grease fire with a lid or using a fire extinguisher are safer methods.
Many fires can be handled with lots and lots of water.
In the San Francisco area, earlier this year, a passerby caught sight of a box truck on fire. The video shows firefighters quickly arriving at the scene.
By chance, a water truck also passed by — at about the four-minute mark. While the firefighters got out of the fire engine and got their tools, the passing water truck came to a stop and suddenly launched a flood at the fire. Job well done!
A description says the owner of the water truck typically uses it at construction sites for dust control.
