DRAPER — A woman was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition after being stabbed at least eight times this weekend.

Raykietta Singer, 23, was arrested early Saturday for investigation of attempted murder.

Draper police were initially called around 12:40 a.m. to an apartment near 450 East and 12200 South. Inside, they found a 31-year-old woman who "appeared to have several stab wounds to the right side of her body" and was later determined to have "been stabbed at least eight times," a police booking affidavit states.

Singer was also found in the apartment with a "large amount of blood" on her, the affidavit states. The victim and her boyfriend had been staying in Singer's apartment. Both Singer and the boyfriend allegedly told detectives the victim and her boyfriend had been arguing most of the evening and "were both accusing each other of trying to cheat on each other," police wrote in their affidavit.

Later that night, Singer began talking with the victim's boyfriend, which made the victim angry and another argument ensued. The victim "began slapping (her boyfriend) with her hands, and shoes" which prompted Singer to try and get between them to get them out of the apartment, the affidavit states.

"The situation continued to escalate to where eventually Raykietta described (the victim) as coming after her, to where they both ended up in the bedroom closet with Raykietta on her back and (the victim) on top of her," according to the affidavit.

Singer then allegedly found a folding knife inside the closet.

"Raykietta made a statement she was 70% to 80% sure she only stabbed (the victim) one time and believed the scuffle lasted less than 5 minutes," the affidavit states. "Raykietta did not have a response when she was told she had stabbed (the victim) at least eight times and that (the victim) might not possibly survive the incident."
