SALT LAKE CITY — Welcome to the last weekend of the nonconference schedule for many teams around the country.

The Week 3 slate should be entertaining with an in-state rivalry matchup (technically two), a road trip to Laramie, and three compelling national games to get you questioning everything you know about college football.

It all starts Friday night — get your picks in early — with a Big 12 matchup that won't actually count toward the conference standings. Undefeated Arizona travels to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on an undefeated Kansas State team.

Though the game won't necessarily have conference implications, it's a good benchmark for two teams that are considered contenders for a Big 12 title.

The two other national games include a ranked LSU team matching up with an undefeated South Carolina team, and an early edition of the annual Apple Cup rivalry game between Washington and Washington State.

There's also the Battle of the Brothers between No. 12 Utah and Utah State. The last time the Utes made a trip to Logan, they left with a loss; but there's a lot different between these two teams now.

And closing out the night is an undefeated BYU team traveling back to Laramie to take on former conference foe Wyoming. Traditionally, Laramie has been a tough destination for opposing teams to play, but Wyoming hasn't exactly lived up to those expectations this season.
