SALT LAKE CITY — What a thrilling first week of college football. The best part is we get to do it again this weekend!

After a perfect start to the season for the three in-state FBS schools — each played an FCS team — the Week 2 slate gets much more difficult as the competition on the field improves significantly.

BYU opens up the weekend with a Friday night road tilt in Dallas to take on an SMU team that is new to the Power Four ranks but ready to make their mark in the college football world. The Mustangs are already 2-0 to start the season and are looking for a third straight win.

The Cougars are 11-point underdogs on the road, but more than 65% of BYU fans believe in their team to get it done on the road.

No. 11 Utah welcomes Baylor to Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday afternoon in what could be a preview of Big 12 action this season — even though this game doesn't count toward the conference standings. The Utes are two touchdown favorites, and 99% of Utah fans see a 2-0 start to the season.

Utah State goes into Week 2 with a big test on the road, where the Aggies will look to dethrone No. 13 USC in the LA Memorial Coliseum (on the night the school honors Caleb Williams and Reggie Bush for their Hesiman Trophy wins) a week after the Trojans won in thrilling fashion in a game against LSU in Las Vegas.

Let's just say Aggies fans aren't too optimistic for a win.

Outside of the in-state teams, our other games include two ranked opponents going against each other for Power Two supremacy — OK, maybe it's not that dramatic. No. 3 Texas travels to the Big House to take on reigning champs Michigan in what should be an entertaining game.

And then there's Coach Prime's team traveling to Lincoln for a rivalry matchup against a much-improved Nebraska squad ready to steal the spotlight. The battle between freshman Dylan Raiola and projected NFL first-rounder Shadeur Sanders will be worth the price of admission.
