2 injured in downtown Salt Lake City shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are investigating a downtown shooting that left two people injured early Saturday.

About 12:55 a.m., police were responding to a fight near 320 S. State Street when they heard multiple gunshots fired. Police then responded south of their location and encountered several people running toward them. Officers determined the shooting occurred near State Street and Exchange Place.

Responding officers located a man in a nearby parking lot and a woman at a nearby business with gunshot wounds. The man and woman were taken to the hospital, where the man is believed to be in critical condition. The woman is stable, with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Salt Lake City Police Department's Gang Unit will be leading an investigation. No arrests have been made.
