PARIS — Brazil beat Canada to win a tense, three-set final to claim the women's beach volleyball gold medal at the Paris Olympics. The match was marred by a nose-to-nose confrontation at the net that needed the intervention of the referee. Ana Patrícia and Duda helped Brazil avoid a medal shutout for the second straight Olympics. Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes took silver. Switzerland beat Australia in straight sets to take bronze. On the men's side, Sweden was set to face Germany for gold, with Norway and Qatar playing for the bronze.
