LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Two weightlifters from the 2016 Rio Olympics have been notified of adverse results discovered in retesting samples from eight years ago. Bronze medal-winning Mohamed Mahmoud of Egypt and fifth-place finisher Alexandr Spac of Moldova from the men's 77kg division are the weightlifters involved. The International Testing Agency announced this week that each tested positive for a non-specified banned substance from the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. The gold medalist from that division, Nijat Rahimov of Kazakhstan was already disqualified for a doping violation two years ago. Neither Mahmoud nor Spac was set to compete in the upcoming Paris Olympics.
