DRAPER — An Orem man once convicted of holding his girlfriend hostage while making DoorDash deliveries is now accused of entering a Draper house at random in the middle of the night and getting into bed with a woman.

Drew Robert Hartung, 41, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated burglary, theft, possession of a weapon by a restricted person and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hartung entered a Draper home in the area of 13000 South just west of I-15, about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday through a back door, according to Draper police. Investigators do not believe Hartung had any prior connections to either the home or the residents.

"The victim stated that she was sleeping with her cat when someone got into bed with her. She thought that maybe it was her sister. However when she turned around, a homeless male … (said) that 'Jen' told him to go into bed with her," a police booking affidavit states.

Officers believe Hartung also took about $500 in cash before he left the house. He was spotted by police a few homes away and was arrested.

In 2020, Hartung was charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault and accused of making food deliveries from Provo to Millcreek all day while not letting his girlfriend out of the car the entire time and assaulting her along the way. He ended up taking a guilty in abeyance plea to amended charges, and the case was dismissed in 2022 after he successfully completed the terms of his plea deal.

Recently, however, he was charged in several cases with stalking and violating a protective order. Those cases were also settled in a plea deal, according to court records.
