CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hendrick Motorsports has ended its ties to longtime sponsor Hooters because the restaurant chain know for chicken wings and skimpy wait-staff outfits could not meet its financial commitments. Hooters had sponsored the No. 9 car driven by Chase Elliott since 2017. It broke into NASCAR in the early 1990s backing late driver Alan Kulwicki. Kulwicki and Elliott both won NASCAR titles. Hendrick said both sides tried to work out a solution but could not and ended the relationship.
