FILLMORE — The manager of the Fillmore Motel was charged Tuesday with rape.

Orlando Schmidt, 55, is charged in 4th District Court with rape and object rape, first-degree felonies. Court documents do not indicate how old the alleged victim is, but charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor, a class A misdemeanor, and providing tobacco or an e-cigarette to a minor, a class C misdemeanor, are included.

Schmidt, the manager of the Fillmore Motel, 50 N. Main Street in Fillmore, asked the victim "to go to his office for an interview and upon doing so Orlando brought out a bottle of vodka that had a red cap along with an open can of Sprite," according to a police booking affidavit. "The victim took a couple of shots of vodka with Orlando and was urged by Orlando to drink the Sprite. The victim stated she was also provided cigarettes."

The victim, however, said she "was stumbling and her vision was blurry" after drinking the Sprite and, despite having had alcohol before, "she had never felt like that … leading her to believe Orlando put something into the Sprite that he urged her to drink," the affidavit alleges.

Schmidt then sexually assaulted the victim, according to the affidavit.
