PAYSON — One person was found dead and another in serious condition Friday night after Payson police responded to a domestic violence call at a house in the area of 500 N. 600 East, according to a press release from the Payson Police Department.

A male discovered in the home was taken into custody as a suspect in attacking both the deceased and the injured victim, police said. He is being held in Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated murder and attempted murder.

Both male victims were found with "multiple lacerations" on their heads, the press release stated. The injured male was transported to Mountain View Hospital and has since been released.

The name of the deceased and the name of the arrested suspect have not been released.

Police said there are no outstanding suspects and no community threat at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

"Our hearts go out to the victim's family who lost their loved one and all those affected during this senseless act of violence," the press release said.
