OREM — Parowan High secured the 2A girl's volleyball championship Saturday with a 3-1 win over Kanab at Utah Valley University.
The Rams brought the energy and the desire during its matchup with Kanab and emerged with a four-set win, 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 25-12.
The first two sets may have ended in wins for Parowan, but the Cowboys did not make it easy for them and stayed close on their heels. The Rams didn't pull away until a 7-point lead on Kanab carried them to the end to take the first set 25-17 after an attack error by Kanab.
Once again, the Cowboys kept the Rams on their toes in the second set, with eight ties throughout the set. Repeating the previous set, Parowan pulled off another 7-0 scoring run. But unlike before, Kanab attempted to close the gap and got to within 2 points; however, Parowan already had the end in sight and finished the second set with a 25-21 win.
Vengeance brewed in the hearts of the Cowboys going into the third set. Kanab took the early lead and maintained it for the rest of the set before closing it out 25-20 over the Rams after a striking kill by Taylor Janes.
After giving up the third set to Kanab, Parowan gave the fourth set all they had left and stunned the Cowboys with a 25-12 win that ended with a kill by Natalie Anderson.
