SALT LAKE CITY — High school girls soccer is in full force as region play begins for the 2023 season. Here is a look at the top teams heading into their respective regions.
6A
The Davis Darts are on a 6-0 tear to start the season. The team snagged its first region 1 win over the Weber Warriors on Aug. 24. In the win, senior midfielder Jessie Larkin led the Darts with two goals, while Emmerson Taylor, Sammy Maudsley, and Calie Clark each added one of their own. Davis looks to continue its region win streak as they take on the Fremont Silverwolves.
In Region 2, the Copper Hills Grizzlies have been dominant, as well. The squad leads the way with a 7-0 overall record and 3-0 in the region. The Grizzlies secured big wins over Bingham, Real Salt Lake Academy and Corner Canyon in the past weeks. Camila Palafox and Brenna Arauzo have been key factors in the Grizzlies' success and have both recorded nine goals and eight assists through the first seven games.
Rounding out the 6A class is Region 3, where Lone Peak and Skyridge sit at the top of the region with 2-0 starts to region play. Lone Peak had recent wins over American Fork and Lehi, while Skyridge found convincing wins over Pleasant Grove and Westlake. The two clubs will meet on Aug. 29 to determine who will take over the top spot in Region 3.

In 5A, Kearns, Clearfield, Skyline and Wasatch lead the way in their respective regions. Kearns and Taylorsville are off to good start with 2-0 records in Region 4, and the two region standouts meet on Aug. 29.
At the top of Region 5 is the Clearfield Falcons, who started the season 5-1. The Falcons' only loss in the region has come against the Box Elder Bees, who sit just below them in the standings at 4-2. Senior forward Cassidy Andrews has been a powerhouse on the field, scoring nine goals on the season so far. Junior keeper Sadie Goble has one shutout on the year.
Regions 6 and 7 are led by Skyline and Wasatch, respectively. The Eagles and the Wasps kicked off region play with 3-1 records. Skyline has recent wins over Alta and Olympus, with their only region loss coming from a matchup with East. Lily Hall has booted in nine goals, while keeper Zoe Liang has three shutouts in the season as of late.
The Wasps started region play with a loss to Maple Mountain but have since rallied to a 3-1 record, with victories over Cedar Valley, Springville and Salem Hills. Berkley Binggeli and Sicily Clark have been good for the Wasps, and both have recorded four goals and four assists through eight games.
