SALT LAKE CITY — Two people are dead and three are injured following a rollover crash in Box Elder County on Friday night, authorities said.
At 10:38 p.m. on Friday, Box Elder County sheriff's deputies, Utah Highway Patrol, and emergency medical services responded to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover crash on East Promontory Road, Box Elder Chief Deputy Cade Palmer said.
The vehicle was northbound when it rolled twice after it drifted and then overcorrected, Palmer said in a statement.
The five people in the vehicle, all between the ages of 15 and 19, weren't wearing seat belts and were ejected from the car, according to Palmer.
River Manning, an 18-year-old man, died at the scene, and Gage Manning, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital via medical helicopter where he later died from his injuries. The three other occupants were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but police say they are expected to survive.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but alcohol and speed are being investigated as potential causes, Palmer said.
