SALT LAKE CITY — We all know how good it feels when a business owner or employee goes out of their way to make you, the customer, feel special.
The KSL.com "Make Your Week" column features uplifting stories sent in from people outside the newsroom. In this edition, a Layton man reaches out to thank a sandwich artist who is "doing great things" for Subway restaurants (and their customers), while a mother thanks a Lehi gymnastics business owner and teacher for her outstanding work to overcome obstacles and help the woman's children achieve their goals.

In a Facebook post addressed to Subway restaurants, Brett F. shared the following story about a Layton Subway sandwich artist named Matt:
"I order the same sandwich every day via the mobile app, which is awesome btw. I order & drive 5 minutes to Subway. Matt is always apologetic if the sandwich isn’t ready when I get there (it’s almost a running joke at this point — I JUST ordered man, take your time!) He always greets me with a smile and sees me off with 'see you soon' or 'see you tomorrow.'
"I usually go inside unless the drive thru is totally empty. Today there was a car at the pick-up window, but no one at the ordering spot, so I figured the drive thru would be quick.
"It wasn’t.
"I finally got to the window and Matt said, 'I’m so sorry about the wait, she had a huge order and your sandwich isn’t ready yet. Would you like a drink or a cookie while you wait?' I took him up on the cookie. I don’t want to shortchange the other staff, because they’re all genuinely great, but Matt kind of blows me away. He’s doing great things for your brand and your customers."

"I have a neighbor that ... amazes all of us with what she has done and overcome. Her name is Aimee Pond. Aimee is the owner and head girls team coach at Champions Sports Center in Lehi. Aimee was born totally deaf and completely blind in her right eye. Two of her head coaches are also deaf but teach gymnastics and are amazing with the kids! So many in Lehi have been so impressed by Aimee and how she is running her business and employing people who are deaf.
"My daughter and son have been taking gymnastics from her for over a year now and I can not tell you how amazing it has been for my kids. ... Within 3 weeks of attending with Aimee my daughter nailed her front hand spring! I could not believe the difference instruction from Aimee made for her! It was has been incredible. ... My son takes boys classes from Kevin, who is also deaf and Kevin and Aimee are his heroes. He adores and idolizes them both. His love for them and the deaf community has been amazing to watch."
