You can start a tradition at any moment. If you're a mom or grandma looking to cement a family moment in the middle of the candy parade that is Halloween, Kate Mulford said to pick a dinner, any dinner, and add a few simple-but-fun holiday touches.

Halloween Dinner Menu

Spiderweb Guac

Start with your basic bowl of guacamole or bean dip. Use a squeeze bottle of sour cream (or regular sour cream in a ziplock bag with a corner cut off) to decorate the top with a spiderweb. Put a plastic spider on top for the finishing touch.

Pumpkin Veggie Tray

Lay out your baby carrots in a circle. Then add sliced cucumbers for the mouth, olives for the nose, and use the dips for the eyes. Add some celery sticks for the stem.

Bone Breadsticks

Kate uses crescent roll dough shaped into bones to make this side dish even easier.

Eyeball Spaghetti

Literally all you have to do to make this spooky spaghetti is add eyeball decorations to the serving bowl.

Spider Sandwiches

Sandwich squeeze cheese between crackers and put pretzel sticks around the edges to make spider legs. The kids would even have a fun time putting these together.

Mummy Brownies

Decorate store-bought or homemade brownies with drizzled white chocolate. Add candy eyeballs to finish them off.
