Motorcyclist hospitalized after hitting bear in eastern Idaho

SWAN VALLEY, Idaho — A Wyoming man was flown to the hospital after hitting a bear on state Highway 31, north of Swan Valley.

A 55-year-old man from Jackson, Wyoming, was riding north on the highway when he collided with the bear around 5:37 p.m. Idaho State Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
