As the world turns its attention to the Beijing winter games, many Utahns might be feeling pangs of nostalgia as they reflect back on 2002 when Salt Lake played host. Though it's hard to believe that two decades have come and gone since then, the memories still burn bright for those who were lucky enough to witness them firsthand.
Maybe you went to an event in person or took part in trading those coveted collector pins (green Jell-O and fry sauce, anyone?)
Maybe you volunteered at the opening and closing ceremonies and still have the winter coat to prove it.
And there's probably a Roots 2002 Team USA beret collecting dust somewhere in your closet.
From an athletic, entertainment and economic standpoint, the 2002 games were a resounding success.
