ST. GEORGE — From the start, it was clear it wasn't going to be a blowout game.
Skyline opened up the scoring late in the first quarter, punching in a touchdown with just 33 seconds left on the clock to take a 7-0 lead. But Pine View wasn't about to back down on their home field, and in the second quarter, senior Brock Harris hauled in a pass in the end zone to tie it up at 7-7.
Just before halftime, Skyline's Will Black slipped past defenders and found the end zone again, putting the Eagles back in control 14-7.
Both defenses tightened up coming out of the break and the game turned into a defensive battle, with both teams trying to hold their opponent off long enough to make the next big play.
Late in the third quarter, Pine View finally broke through again. Harris powered across the goal line for his second touchdown of the night, tying things at 14-14.
Barely a few minutes into the fourth, the Eagles answered again. Alex Brown burst through the defense, crossing into the end zone for what would become the game-winning touchdown.
In the final minutes, Pine View made an attempt at a rally, moving the ball downfield. But an interception by Skyline's Peyton Carter crushed the Panthers' hopes, and the Eagles took over possession and ran down the clock, punching their ticket to the next round of the playoffs.
